Sad and bad news around NY and on Tug Hill

First the sad news. Has been reported by local tv station here in Syracuse that as of Dec 31, 2007, there has been 9, YES 9 (NINE) snowmobile fatalities so far this season. In fact, I do believe all in the month of Dec. Now the bad news. For those not checking the trail condition site specific to either Tug Hill or Old Forge, thought you'd like to know that Marty's closed up a day or so ago. Not sure if/when new owner will open. Plus those riding on the hill and surrounding area, be aware of a MAJOR water hole at Tabolt's corners (near Timberview). Water holes in other places as well, but this one is a doozy. Hopefully it can be corrected. ACZL

RE: '87 Polaris Indy 488 Troubles

Carb jets are way off. Jetted for really, REALLY cold temps. That's my guess. This motor is one of Polaris' best motors they ever had. Best I recall, very few if any problems. ACZL

RE: Just got the call..dad passed on..

Sorry to hear about your loss OT. Passing on is always difficult, but near any holiday is worse. Say and extra prayer at dinner time, hug ALL your family members and tell them you love them all. ACZL

RE: Thumb Fatigue

There is also a product called "The Throttle Gizmo or Throttle Gizmo" distributed by www.clydecanride.com (ad is in back of snow mag). It is an aux lever that attaches to your throttle pin and it reduces the amount of "stretch" your thumb has to to do to reach the standard lever. Basically, you'll end up with 2 levers, just the Gizmo is closer to the bar. I bought one for our DD a few years ago and I think they sell for about 30-35 bucks. Like AP stated, if you don't have FI, this may be something to consider. ACZL

RE: What to do with blown engine?

My guess is between a few hundred to 1500.00 buckaroos. More than the sled is worth, but if not planning to get a newer one anytime soon, then perhaps worth fixing. Ask around or at dealer to see if he has any running motors from sleds involved in accidents (totaled) but motor may be okay?

RE: Carbide questions

Can any weight be transfered to the skid (taken off the skis)? Almost sounds like your too heavy on the ski department. Just a thought. ACZL

RE: 2nd grader killed on snowmobile

We had a 35-40 YO guy get killed the other day up along the Canadian border, hit a tree. Police report states that speed and booze contributed to it.

RE: Tug Hill According to TS....Monday 12/2 6pm

There was a decent amount that fell north of the hill over the w/e. Sadly, a near 40ish year old lost his life when he lost control of his sled and hit a tree. :( Police report states that speed and alcohol were contributing factors.
